Duck Prom 2013 Photos Here!

Last June the we at the Duck Island were happy to host our very first Duck Prom!  There was lots of fun to be had including our very own alcoholic punch, beautiful people in their finery, beautiful people in their street clothes, an awesome DJ and lots of dancing and merriment.  There was also a photo booth to capture some of the most hilarious and strange moments of the night.

Here are a few select shots:

There were singles...  They wanted to do it all by themselves...

There were twosomes...  of all varieties

There were threesomes... of even more varieties

There were foursomes...

And, uh, MOREsomes...

There were boob grabs...

And lots of kisses...

And then some near misses...

But isn't that what prom is all about?

Stay tuned for Duck Prom 2...  coming June 2014!

Thank you kind Duck Islanders!

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the lovely and generous people who donated toys for our toy drive.  I was a little worried at first, but you did not disappoint.   Our box overflowed with over $1000 in toys for kids who so deserve to have the same Christmas experience that many of us took for granted as children.
Thank you!  You guys rock!

If you like fried chicken but haven't tried broasted chicken before, you are missing out! Pressure fried chicken means it's more crispy on the outside, hot/tender on the inside, and less greasy than traditional deep frying. I've had this style at a few places, only finding out about Duck Island when they ran a LivingSocial deal recently, despite being to neighboring Beth's countless times over the years.

Their proprietary blend of spices had just the right amount of black pepper with hits of rosemary, thyme, and whatever else. Warning: It's scalding hot when it arrives, so let it cool down for longer than you think you should...you've been warned!

Service here was awesome even on a Saturday night, and I should also mention that they have a great selection of beers on tap. It took a long time, but I finally found a local broasted chicken joint that rivals my other favorite (Marco Polo).

Living Social Deal = Chicken and Beer!

Soooo...  If you have been to the Duck lately you might have noticed that we are operating our own kitchen now.  It was one of the last things that we had to tweak to complete the remodel we started in January.

Speaking as a life-long server, I can tell you that there is nothing more gratifying than setting down a plate in front of a hungry person and feeling proud of what you are presenting to them.  I am so happy to serve this menu that our Chef Rick Gerbus has put together.  It is the perfect accompaniment to our well-rounded beer selection and our signature dishes of Fricken' Chicken (pressure fried to perfection) and Wings proudly stand up to some of the best in town.

In an effort to get the word out we are running our first coupon on Livingsocial.  It is an incredible deal that includes Two 4 piece Chicken Baskets and Two beers ($6 or under).  This is the perfect opportunity to come down and try out what we have to offer.  The opinions so far speak for themselves:

"You know it's good when we aren't even talking to each other...  We're just busy getting the chicken off the bone and into our mouths.  It tastes that good."

"My stomach is so happy right now..."

"These are some of the best wings I have ever had in Seattle."

"That's the SMALL plate of nachos?  These are delicious!"

We will only be running this deal for another day or two, but we are definitely worth the trip, even without the coupon.  Our pricing is always reasonable.

Another new addition to the Duck Family...  Skee Ball!  Come down and give it a try!

Cheers!
Jackie
