If you like fried chicken but haven't tried broasted chicken before, you are missing out! Pressure fried chicken means it's more crispy on the outside, hot/tender on the inside, and less greasy than traditional deep frying. I've had this style at a few places, only finding out about Duck Island when they ran a LivingSocial deal recently, despite being to neighboring Beth's countless times over the years.

Their proprietary blend of spices had just the right amount of black pepper with hits of rosemary, thyme, and whatever else. Warning: It's scalding hot when it arrives, so let it cool down for longer than you think you should...you've been warned!

Service here was awesome even on a Saturday night, and I should also mention that they have a great selection of beers on tap. It took a long time, but I finally found a local broasted chicken joint that rivals my other favorite (Marco Polo).

Living Social Deal = Chicken and Beer!

Soooo...  If you have been to the Duck lately you might have noticed that we are operating our own kitchen now.  It was one of the last things that we had to tweak to complete the remodel we started in January.

Speaking as a life-long server, I can tell you that there is nothing more gratifying than setting down a plate in front of a hungry person and feeling proud of what you are presenting to them.  I am so happy to serve this menu that our Chef Rick Gerbus has put together.  It is the perfect accompaniment to our well-rounded beer selection and our signature dishes of Fricken' Chicken (pressure fried to perfection) and Wings proudly stand up to some of the best in town.

In an effort to get the word out we are running our first coupon on Livingsocial.  It is an incredible deal that includes Two 4 piece Chicken Baskets and Two beers ($6 or under).  This is the perfect opportunity to come down and try out what we have to offer.  The opinions so far speak for themselves:

"You know it's good when we aren't even talking to each other...  We're just busy getting the chicken off the bone and into our mouths.  It tastes that good."

"My stomach is so happy right now..."

"These are some of the best wings I have ever had in Seattle."

"That's the SMALL plate of nachos?  These are delicious!"

We will only be running this deal for another day or two, but we are definitely worth the trip, even without the coupon.  Our pricing is always reasonable.

Another new addition to the Duck Family...  Skee Ball!  Come down and give it a try!

Cheers!
Jackie

Trappistes Rochefort Beer at Duck Island Ale House

At Duck Island Ale House (...and bar), we love beer!  A lot of the beer we love comes bottled, and we have a lot of it.  Trappistes Rochefort 10 is a great Belgian style beer one must try.  Beer Advocate gives this beer a rating of 100.  One hundred!  Out of one hundred!  The Bros give it a 98 out of 100 - considered World Class beer at that rating.  You can read some great reviews by beer lovers such as yourself here:  http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/207/645

There's also the Rochefort 6 and 8, in addition to the 10.

From Wikipedia...

The brewery is located inside the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy, near the town of Rochefort, and has been brewing beer since 1595. There are approximately 15 monks resident at the monastery. As with all other Trappist breweries, the beer is only sold in order to financially support the monastery and some other charitable causes. Like many strong Belgian beers, those produced at Rochefort age well and can be cellared for at least five years while maintaining quality. The water for the beers is drawn from a well located inside the monastery walls.

Pretty cool story.
